New Years Resolutions

Lets see what I have so far:

* 3 walks a week - Monday, Wednesday and Friday [ Minimum around the block ] Note in my new journal how far I went

* Serve smaller meals up to myself than Jan's,  Put extras in freezer for a snack or extra meal

* Check Budget before committing to spending money [e.g. going out to dinner or a trip or whatever]. 

I want to know where the money is coming from before we do it rather than having to magic up an answer for that afterwards often resulting in us missing out on something we really wanted. Read more »

A new year


2012 isn't far off now, 4 days including today.   My mind has been going crazy thinking about all my goals for the new year.  I also am having a hard time defining myself separate from my business (Ginger Robot) and my new life as a homesteader (Widget Grove).   What should I do with this domain?  Well there is a lot of me that doesn't quite fit on the widgetgrove website. although anything can go on there.  Read more »

Blogging

I haven't written a blog post for a long time.  I write twitter updates mostly these days.  I'm curious whether I need to blog anymore really.  I suspect writing about my life and achievements over the years kept me optimistic and helped me look back at the positive times.  Lately I've been very flat.  I had a very quiet June and July which turned into August all of a sudden and that's nearly over now. The week we ran 5 miles


I wish I had written up our trip to Gran Canaria as it went, but I didn't so I'll just have to move on and hope I can get enough out of twitter when I get around to making the scrapbook. Sunday July 12th - I was thrilled that we'd left the house in a pristine state.  Got home to fresh sheets, empty washing lines, clothes to wear to work and even meals in the freezer!.    We enjoyed walking in the sun in Dublin before it started lashing rain to welcome us home.   I imagine my summer clothes will be going back in their dusty box for a long time now. 5Mile Training Plan

Jan and I have signed up for an 8k race on July 18th. We're not so fit so we'll have to train. Here's a basic training plan, hopefully can update along the way with how we're going. The race is 11 weeks from Saturday. :D. Unfortuantely the week before we're going to be in the Canary Islands where we usually get pretty lazy. The plan this year is to keep up with the program though, go for a run along the beach or something. Need to also note we're jogging and running this distance, using intervals of jogs.
