Thinking about a life of art and gardening

Published in

This was such a busy week. Our calendar was jam packed with one to two events a day. Pretty stressful. But I think still achieved a lot as well.

In Mondays class about Organic Farm Design. We learnt about Maps, Ridges and Gulleys.  This lead to thinking about how water flows and where it would be stored on a property. Lee Anne shared her map she's been drawing on see through table cloths, such a cool idea:

In Wednesdays Class, Beck gave us some Ruby Lou Potatos and I made a no dig garden on the grass, a newspaper then compost and straw:

Thursday night was a fantastic night out with the Friends of Willow Park Group.  They held a dinner to go over the new landscaping plans for Willow park.  Protecting and creating new areas for the local Fawna/Flora.  We met so many more great people that are involved in the group, and even decided to head to a music festival in December that others are going to!.

Saturday we were up early to vote, then we had a market stall at the St Johns Markets here in Thurgoona. I sold worm wee, seedlings and plants I'd grown from cuttings.  The best bit was meeting other local peoplel who want to get involved with our gardening group.

After that we had Seed Savers where we learnt about growing sweet potatos, they need warmth to shoot and deep soil basically.  They can be grown up a trellus.  I came home with so much stuff as usual,  Sweet Pelargoniums,  lilly root Orris, Black potatos, Lavendar, lettuces, oregano, silverbeets & a carob.  Got home and planted them all.  Bought a Chamomile and stuck in a couple of left over Agapanthus too.  Then also some seeds,Hollyhocks, Rockmelons, Parsley, Loufas, A range of Sunflowers, Cosmos, Poppies, Spaghetti squash & golden marigolds.  I really loved sitting out in the sun with everyone discussing tips for growing things here.

Sunday we participated in the 10km race in Wodonga.  It went up Federation hill which was a decent climb.

For lunch we had a bbq with the Friends of Willow Park (we love them) then coffee with Organic Gardeners Group.
