Bulbs and bottled olives

Published in

We decided on another kids experiment this week, putting some avocado seeds up on the windowsill in hopes they'll grow.  I was back at TAFE on Wednesday and we worked on propegating from hard wood cuttings.  Mulberries, figs, willows, plus wonderful herbs and plants from around the farm.  Back at home I made my own potting mix with some sand, rocks and some compost.  Will just have to see how it goes with some winter seeds.

I was surprised to see my bulbs are sprouting this early, it's still very cold.  I can't complain it's so beautiful seeing this colour along the back fence.

I bottled the first two jars of olives, from the pillow case method.  Bottled with oil, brine, garlic, thyme, rosemary and oregano.  The end result is a little salty but not horrible, should be fine on pizzas etc..

Finally our broadbeans and peas are producing fruit, I hope they swell up soon so we can start eating them too.
