Routines and completed tasks

Published in

In the shower this morning I imagined having my perfect organisational tool, yes the one I fantasise about a few times a year and start programming around new years every single year. So how do I finally get this so I can replace my paper diary? Step 1: Define what I do want, interface, features etc. Step 2: Investigate what is out there and figure out why they don't work for me Step 3: Haxor Step 3 is the most interesting for me, but I should give existing apps a chance.  Here's some of my desires: I wake up in the morning and check the app,  It shows my morning routine first on the list as "Morning Routine".   I can see the subtasks this item has -> (Put dishes away, Hang out washing, Make bed, Pack lunch, Give bathroom a quick clean).    I can either do each task individually, or tick the whole as done for the day.   There could be a similar routine for starting work  (empty inbox, make coffee etc.).    When 'Morning Routine' is done, OR if just individual items in there are completed the get placed in a completed area, time stamped, where I can check what I have achieved each day or so far. AND Goals. e.g. "Move to Ireland".    This ofcourse is broken down into subtasks e.g. "Move our stuff to ireland", and a subtask of that is "order boxes".  That can be done any day now, so it can be offered as a task for me to do any day from right now.   If i feel today is the day I'd drag and drop the task onto today.   After it is done, I tick it, and Move our stuff to ireland will be say 10% complete, and it'll say "last task completed July 4th".    This could work for recurring tasks as well. e.g. "Clean the kitchen"   one task I can do today is empty the crumbs from the toaster.  So I did that this morning and "Clean the kitchen" says 90% complete, last task completed July 4th".   A few weeks from now I either 100% complete that task or reset it so everything has to be done from scratch like sweeping and mopping. Ofcourse I want yearly, monthly and weekly goals like I have in my paper diary, somet items are tasks some are goals. some are weekly routines based on monthly e.g. "clean the house" and this week's "Clean the kitchen", depending on how the user wants it. The idea is each day I have some items I can do right now e.g. call realestate agent,  wash curtains, pick photos for printing from our england holiday.     other things rely on things happening, but it's interesting to have them noted down somewhere e.g. when my degree arrives I can apply for my greencard.    so some things are in a "I'm waiting for this". OK Now I need to research what exists out there.
