I'm filled with inspiration to start programming something awesome now that I've been at a developers conference all week. This added with my huge amounts of time that I'll have available now that I'm 'between jobs/contracts' should mean I can actually do this stuff. I just need to get my ideas out of my head and somewhere so I can start the designs. Routine app: Imagine turning my scraps of paper shoved in a two ring A5 binder into an application. I can scribble on the page, cross stuff off, file stuff away, scrunch stuff up, tear off a bit and put it somewhere else. I'd like to have my photo routine and be able to put it on my todo list and cross off each step as it's done: * photos off cam * delete the really bad ones * upload photos * put them in gallery * add to blog post about what's happened then ofcourse edit the good ones and print and put in the photo albums. I pretty much do all of this once a week Finances App: I think the home finances method I have been using for the last two years really rocks, we've basically stayed on budget this whole time, and been able to monitor what is going on with our finances all the time, and I do the same tedious calculations and typing every month when the pay check comes in, then there's a lot of very complex information that I am not monitoring because it's too hard, such as our home loan and how $10 we put on there today could save us some interest over time even if we do spend it now that I need income. I like to output reports and shove them in a folder at home and cross off stuff as it happens, but Jan would like this info on his own laptop so that he could keep track of his parts of the money and what not too. Multiple currencies, multiple platforms, maybe a website to go with it pointing to other finance tools and tips and whatnot. Gstreamer editor while trying to figure out what to hack on wim suggested I look at gst-editor and get it all up and running again, something Jan wants too for what he's working on. So I got the source from the SOC student and whatnot, but it doesn't work now, the goocanvas project seem to have made a lot of changes to their API and even after we worked to change it to use the new ones it segfaults. I think I'd have to learn all about goocanvas before I could get it working again, which kinda sucks, I'd prefer to have it all working then start learning what I need to make small changes. I might have to leave this to someone more experiences until I gain the skills perhaps programming one of my ideas above. Projects in general I have a lot of skills regarding organisation and social networking, I often wonder how I can help projects with these things. Online community organisers, the job of the future is inspiring, though I don't know what I can do next to work towards this.
