End of 2006 Christmas and New Years were spent here in Barcelona, most of the time Jan and I were alone at home with Thomas's cat Alunya and Wims projector. New Years Eve we went to our friend Areskis place and drank lots of cava. We ate 12 grapes each to each of the 12 chimes of the midnight clock which is considered lucky here and the only way to start the new year. The party really kicked off after midnight with people dropping in that spoke many different languages they were from Italy, Belgium, Wales, Germany, England, France and quite a few from Spain too. Memories The main thing I want to do this year is blog more, I let it slide a bit last year and now that I'm thinking about making my 2006 scrapbook I'm regretting it. I finished a photo album about our weeks in Central Spain, over christmas. It was so hard to remember what we did and how we felt, it will be much worse for the rest of the years memories. I want to complete my photo album about our trip to Greece before starting on 2006 and 2007 albums. I plan to write monthly updates to home like I did in 2005, to family and friends as well. Travel I have some travel in mind, Paris in February, maybe Brussels at the end of February, South of Spain, Portugal,Marocco, Prague, Vienna etc(eastern europe). I want to visit south of Barcelona (Valencia and Tarragona) and north of Barcelona to Figueres. Maybe a trip to London at some stage, maybe for GUADEC. I have some vague plan about skiing/snow that seemed important when we were planning our move here... I'd like to see more of the sites of Barcelona too (History museum, tibidabo). I have no plans to visit Australia during 2007. Day to day life in Spain I have been fairly happy here in Barcelona, I've made a few really great friends and had a blast on weekends at parties etc during 2006. I didn't make much progress with Spanish which I find embarrising. Work has been ok the company Flumotion is doing better all the time so there's plenty to do. During 2007 I would like to: * Improve my Spanish * Meet some new people * Find a way to fit in at work better, task wise. For work I'll be working on a members area for the flumotion site that would provide lots awesome of features for our customers/resellers. * Move into a really great apartment and have guests stay and have a few house parties there.
